London, June 2, 2026 – Spendesk, the leading AI-powered spend and procurement management platform for SMEs and mid-market companies, today announces its latest innovation to its platform: the Spendesk Model Context Protocol (MCP). This new solution will be announced at Money 20/20, the European fintech industry's premier event, enabling finance teams to query their spend data directly from AI assistants like Claude and Dust.
At the heart of this announcement is a fundamental shift in how finance teams operate: the move from static, manually-generated reports to real-time, AI-driven insights. They are now increasingly adopting AI tools to accelerate decision-making, and it’s reshaping spend management workflows across Europe.Indeed, Spendesk's own platform data captures this in real time: AI tool spend by customers has grown more than 50-fold since 2022, accelerating 281% year-on-year in early 2026 1.
“The data is unambiguous: AI tools now represent 38% of all technology spend processed through Spendesk up from less than 1% four years ago, accelerating at 281% year-on-year. This spending trend redefines what finance software needs to be. In this context, success is no longer determined by feature breadth, but being the infrastructure layer that lets finance teams work with the tools they choose.”, Quentin Vigneau, CPO of Spendesk.
The Spendesk MCP removes this barrier by creating a secure conversational layer between AI assistants, such as Claude or Dust or any other LLM terminal, and the Spendesk API.
CFOs, financial controllers, and analysts can now query their spend data using natural language, directly from their existing tools. Questions such as “What is our current cash position?”, “Which invoices are pending payment?” or “Compare marketing spend between Q1 and Q2”and receive answers grounded in real Spendesk data, within seconds.
MCP focuses on retrieval and analysis, which means finance teams get the intelligence they need while maintaining complete control over sensitive workflows like approvals and payments.
“Our strategy is to focus engineering on exceptional experiences for our core personas while opening spend data to anyone who needs authorized access. MCP embodies this: we're positioning Spendesk as the foundational platform agents act through in the agentic era, and it creates powerful synergies with our broader agentic initiatives.” Quentin Vigneau, CPO of Spendesk.
The solution is available now in beta; customers interested in early access can request activation directly.
