Spendesk strengthens governance and leadership of its fintech subsidiary SFS with appointments of Véronique McCarroll and Benjamin Gonthier

London, June 8 - Spendesk, the AI-powered platform for managing spend and procurement, today announced two senior appointments within its subsidiary Spendesk Financial Services (SFS), its licensed payment institution.

Véronique McCarroll has been appointed Independent Chair of the SFS Supervisory Board, while Benjamin Gonthier joins as President of SFS.

These appointments strengthen the governance and operational leadership of SFS and reflect Spendesk’s continued investment in its regulated financial services platform.

Strengthening governance and execution

Spendesk is building an AI-powered Office-of-the-CFO platform that combines software, proprietary spend data and regulated financial services into a single integrated model.

As the role of SFS continues to expand within that strategy, Spendesk is further strengthening the leadership and governance structure of its licensed entity.

Véronique McCarroll appointed Independent Chair of SFS Supervisory Board

The appointment of Véronique McCarroll as the first independent Chair of the SFS Supervisory Board reflects Spendesk’s continued focus on strong governance and regulatory oversight.

Across more than 40 years in financial services, including leadership roles at Crédit Agricole CIB, Orange Bank, McKinsey & Company, Oliver Wyman and EY, as well as serving as an independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Lion Finance Group (a FT100 company), she has developed extensive experience across governance, risk management and transformation.

Benjamin Gonthier appointed President of SFS

Benjamin Gonthier joins SFS as President and will lead the next phase of development of the business, with responsibility across operations, commercial execution and strategic initiatives.

Drawing on experience gained at Eurogroup Consulting and Orange Bank, he brings deep expertise in banking operations and scaling financial platforms.

Spendesk would like to thank Stéphane Dehaies for his significant contributions in building the regulatory foundations and operational discipline of Spendesk Financial Services, helping establish it as a credible and trusted financial services platform.

Alfonso Marone, Executive Chairman of the Spendesk Board, said:

“These appointments reflect our commitment to strong governance and to building a financial services platform with the discipline and credibility expected of a regulated institution. SFS is a strategic asset for Spendesk and we are investing accordingly.”

Axel Demazy, CEO, said:

“Véronique and Benjamin join at an important stage in the development of SFS. Their experience across governance, banking operations and execution will help us deepen the integration between software and financial services and continue building differentiated value for our customers.”

Spendesk’s model combines AI-powered software, proprietary spend data with uniquely granular context for LLMs, and a licensed European financial services infrastructure, enabling businesses to manage and optimise spend through a unified platform.
